How the site works
What exactly IS Camwhores.com?
Camwhores is a webcam archiving site. Every 10 seconds we scan around 200 webcams on the internet. The most recently updated webcams appear on the front page of the site, and each update is added to that cam's archive page on Camwhores. We provide a chat system to talk to everyone else on the site, special "members only" content available only to paid subscribers, exclusive shows you can't see anywhere else, and a whole lot more.
So I can see these cams already on the Internet? What am I paying for exactly?
About 2/3rds of the cams on our site are available on the Internet. Most cams are run by amateur "camgirls", who put their cam's feed on their own site. However, Camwhores provides many services and features that you can't get just by visiting each site directly. Most sites we pull the cam feeds from don't have archives(you can only see the most recent picture). We also add "Hall of Fame" sections for the very best pics as voted by viewers, a 24/7 active chat system, personalized recommendations for images you like, an easy place to go to see hundreds of cams all at once, and loads of other features you won't find elsewhere.
If I go to www.camwhores.com I can see cams already, what do subscribers get?

Are these streaming video cams or still images?
The traditional definition of a webcam is the use of still images only. The bandwidth costs of doing streaming video far exceed what nearly every amateur webcam operator can afford. It's also not technically possible for webcam archival sites such as ours to rebroadcast video streams, there are just too many different incompatible formats and streaming software pieces used. Camwhores archives every image posted to still image webcams, with resolutions ranging from 320x240 all the way up to several megapixel extremely high quality digital camera shots.
However, that doesn't mean Camwhores doesn't have streaming video! We have hundreds of streaming video shows performed by your favorite webcam operators directly on this site. Archives of past shows are watchable at any time, and you can usually catch a live streaming show happening several times a day. These streaming video shows are only available to current Camwhores subscribers.
Who are the people on the cams?
For the most part, the operators of the cams you see here are amateurs. None of them are paid for being on Camwhores itself, most do this as an unpaid hobby or as a way to attract visitors to their own sites.
What's the procedure for adding new cams?
You can fill out the application form to apply to add your own cam to our site. Once approved by our administrators, each cam is placed on the front page and can begin chatting on the tagboard, performing shows, etc.
Why
isn't the girl on cam getting naked?
Since 99% of the people
on CamWhores.com are NOT porn stars nor paid actors, nudity is something
that is done for fun, not for a day job. These are real people who enjoy going on cam for fun.
However, there is LOTS of nudity on this site.
Begging or demanding on the tagboard won't get you
what you want. If you need some nudity now, go through the show history or the Hall of Fame pages for some of the site's best stuff.
We
define a "Cam Whore" as someone who is on their webcam a lot, and has
their webcam as an integral part of their online persona. It is a popular modern
Internet term given to people (male and female) who are on cam a lot, and I don't
think of it as a derogatory term, but part of the modern Internet lexicon.
Remember,
CamWhores.com is not a porn site, but an invitation to become a voyeur into the
lives of some very sexy, very cool people. The people who have their cams on this
site invite the world into their homes to watch them, and they do it for fun,
not money. Your subscription pays for the bandwidth and servers necessary for the archives, chat system and features provided directly by Camwhores. Your subscription does NOT pay the cam operators directly for anything they do, so they're under no obligation to perform on demand. Lots of fun and exciting things happen on the site, more so when there isn't someone nagging constantly that a particular cammer isn't getting naked that second. Suggestions are usually welcomed most while a show is being performed, but the occasional request won't be frowned on if you do it politely enough.
Also, keep in mind that not every person on our site gets naked ever. That's okay with us. Some of the sexiest moments on Camwhores came from those well versed in the "art of the tease."
What about private (one-on-one) shows?
Camwhores doesn't currently offer one-on-one private shows.

Where are the live cams?
Just go to the front page of the site. The cams on that page are listed in the order that they last uploaded a new picture of themselves.
What exactly do you mean by "live cams"?
Unlike most porn sites, 99% of the images uploaded by our cammers are taken that very second, not pre-shot or airbrushed to death. What you're seeing is exactly how they look right when the took the picture.
I'm looking for video not still images, where is that?
A streaming live video show happens whenever any of our cammers decide to do one. Most give advance notice of when they plan to do a show on our upcoming shows page, but many happen spontaneously when they feel like it. If a streaming video show is occurring right now, you'll see it on the front page of the site with a purple border around the webcam image. Click it to launch our streaming video player and watch the live action. If one isn't going on right now, you can visit our show archive page to re-watch any of our hundreds of archived still image and video shows.
Site features
How does voting for/against cams work? (+/- voting)
Paid members are allowed to give each cam a + or - vote, once a day. If you feel the recent performance on a cam is worthy of praise, give them a + vote! Reserve - votes for situations where you truly believe a cam isn't positively contributing to the site and should be removed. Each cam's "score" is calculated by subtracting the number of - votes from the number of + votes. All scores are completely reset at the start of each calendar month to allow a fresh start for everyone.
Each member is limited in the amount of negative votes they can give within a time frame. Please do not maliciously - vote people, or your ability to vote may be restricted.
How does voting for individual images work? (1-10 voting)
Paid members can rank each image on a scale of 1 through 10. Images ranked highest by our members appear in the Hall of Fame pages for each cam and the entire site. Your voting history is also used to provide personalized recommendations of other images we think you'd be interested in.
Each member is limited in the amount of low votes they can give within a time frame. Please do not maliciously "low vote" someone because you don't like them, or your ability to vote may be restricted.
How do the category nominations work?
Under each image, when viewed full size, there is a dropdown box to nominate it for one of 13 categories ranging from "Sexiest" to "Funniest" to "Best Boobs". You may nominate as many pictures as you like, but you may nominate each image for only one category. However, don't go through your favorite cammer's archives and nominate each picture for "Sexiest" - if you start nominating an extreme number (hundreds) of pictures, your nominations have less and less influence on the results.
To view the best images in each category, go to the Hall of Fame page then select the category you want from the drop-down box at the top of the page.
How do I keep track of my personal favorite pics? How does "My Photo Album" work?
Under each image, when viewed full size, there's a link to add or remove an image from your photo album. To view all the pictures in your album, click the link to the left of the chat window on the main page called "My Photo Album". You may put up to 10,000 images in your album.
I never seem to catch my favorite cammers updating, or live shows happening. What can I do?
Have us automatically email you when any of your favorites comes online, or a show starts. Go to My Control Panel then click "Email notifications" to set this up.
Some cams have a "Tip Jar" link under them, what is it for?
Due to the extremely high costs to run this site, we're not able to pay the cammers directly for being on the site. The only payments from us to them are small bonuses for performing "members shows" that are exclusive to Camwhores. Rather than raise our subscription prices to cover paying everyone, we think it's more fair to allow our members to volunteer to give a little something extra when a cammer does a show you especially enjoyed. Nobody is required to tip, but doing so will usually result in more shows from that cammer, and sometimes a special thank-you from them.
What are "members only cams"? What does the * mean next to some cams?
Not all of our cammers let the whole world know they perform on an adult entertainment site. To protect their privacy, each cammer may choose several levels of being "members only". Some cams restrict how much of their archive are visible to non-members. Some cams are completely invisible to non-members. If you're a member, you can view a list of all members only cams. Members only cams are indicated by a * when they appear on the front page.
Some cams have a different color border around them on the front page, what do they mean?
A blue border means that cam is in the top 3 cams at the moment, as voted by our members. Congratulate them!
A purple border means that cam is currently performing a streaming video show. Click the image displayed on the front page to start watching the live video.
How do the "Personal Recommendations" work?
We look at your past voting, viewing and nominating history, to try to find similarities between your taste in images and others' tastes. Vote and nominate pictures you enjoy to further teach our system what you like. Do not "- vote" cams or "low vote" pictures if it's picking images you don't like. - votes and low votes do not affect the recommendations, only + and image scores of 8 or higher.
Policies
What behavior isn't permitted?
Don't be negative towards any members, cammers or anyone else. If you don't like the content of a cam, you may turn that cam off in your control panel. If you feel the need to - vote someone, you don't need to tell everyone you did. One negative person can spoil the mood for hundreds of people who are enjoying something, so our patience for negativity is very low. Anyone being negative may have their tagboard access temporarily revoked.
Don't use the chat system to discuss anything illegal. No discussion of copyright infringement, drug use or "hacking".
Don't be demanding of those on camera. If they're looking for suggestions for what to do, they'll ask. Polite suggestions are fine if they're infrequent. Demanding a performance when someone just came on to say "Hi!" isn't.
Even if you feel someone else has provoked you, don't return hostile or negative comments. We don't care who started it, anyone attacking anyone else will be banned.
Don't share your account with anyone, or use automated tools to download images from the site. We have tools to detect these violations of our terms of service and will terminate accounts who break our policies.
Some pictures were removed, why?
Whenever a cammer leaves the site, their archives are removed immediately. Our agreement with them is to delete their photographs and shows as soon as they want to leave. If we didn't agree to do this, it's unlikely we'd have many cammers wanting to be on our site.
Very rarely, individual images or shows are removed at the request of the owner, or due to contractual or legal reasons. We never remove images unless it would create a legal liability for us, or would otherwise result in a cammer leave the site completely. We make every effort to ensure that the archives for all shows are left up for at least 48 hours after the show occurred, with 99% of our shows staying up indefinitely.
Why do cams get removed?
The most common reason is because the owner of the cam asked to be removed. Other reasons include not updating their cam at all for 45 days, being "voted off" by our members, or for extreme violations of our policies.
Billing and Subscription
How do I cancel my account?
Go to our subscription management system. Log in there, and turn off automatic renewal. When the amount of time you've already paid for has expired, your account will be removed.
Streaming video
How does streaming work?
Streaming video and audio member's shows are now available on CamWhores.com.
When a streaming show is in progress the performers cam will turn purple on the front page. If you click the cam you'll be taken to a page where you can view the streaming show and chat on the tagboard.
After the show is over, you can re-watch it at any time from the "Members Shows" link on the front page.
What are the requirements to watch streaming video?
All that's needed is a browser capable of running Flash 7(if you don't have Flash 7 installed, you'll be taken to a page where you can download it), a computer that's 600MHz or faster(300MHz or faster for Mac users), and a broadband internet connection with at least 256Kbps download speeds.
What if I don't have a fast enough connection?
That's okay, you can still participate in one of these ways:
If you have a connection that's at least 128kbps, you can choose a "reduced bandwidth" mode. The picture isn't as smooth, and you don't get sound, but it's still very good quality.
If you're on a slower connection (dialup, etc), you can choose to watch the stream in "slide show" mode. Here you get to see one high quality image from the show every 5-6 seconds.
Or if you prefer, you can watch still images taken from the stream every 15-30 seconds on the main page of the site.
Other questions
I've emailed you guys and haven't had a reply, what's wrong?
It's pretty hard to answer most emails without using porn-sounding words. The name of our site even has the word "whores" in it. Because of this, many email spam systems will automatically think our replies are junk mail, either putting them in a "Junk Mail" folder or completely deleting them. Some mail servers won't even let you send an email to us if they don't like the name of our site. If you haven't had a reply to an email after waiting 72 hours, you can email kevin@camwhores.com as a last resort.
